"I notice he never kisses you though."

"He has! Twice, as a matter of fact."

"Oh come on! Those were basically scripted."

"So?"

"Nothin'. I just wonder why, that's all."

"He doesn't do spontaneous kissing, that's just not his thing."

Colin's thoughts were drifting back to the conversation he'd overheard between Drew and Ryan that morning.

They'd wandered off out of earshot just afterward, Drew ribbing Ryan good-naturedly about not really blaming Colin for his reluctance to kiss him.

It was still playing on his mind as Drew announced the next game, Scenes From a Hat and he moved to his usual position on autopilot.

He knew why he didn't initiate when it came to kissing Ryan; even when the other man held his eyes with the challenge, he always bottled out.

It was fear, plain and simple.

At the back of his mind there was always the scenario playing where Ryan would pull away and he'd end up looking foolish.

The first time he'd kissed him during Let's Make a Date, the taller man had ducked. That had brought feelings to the surface he'd much rather never experience again.

"You okay?"

Ryan's softly spoken question carried a hint of worry and sufficiently broke the spell Colin had put himself under.

"Yeah, fine. Sorry" he smiled, shaking his head a little and regarding his friend.

"Taking a little trip to Colin-land?" Ryan chuckled, patting his shoulder lightly and turning his attention back to the stage.

Colin simply nodded ruefully and did the same.

Drew was laughing heartily at something Wayne had just performed, indicating to Colin that he'd missed at least one suggestion during his musings.

'Boy, when I tune out I really tune out' he thought, mentally slapping his face into awareness.

"Okay" Drew began, squinting at the piece of paper in his hand. "Bad reasons to hold a ceremony."

Easy enough.

Colin moved to the centre of the stage, his fingers miming scissors cutting a ribbon.

"It is my pleasure to announce the opening of these bowels!" he toned regally, moving back to the side, accompanied by raucous applause and laughter from the audience.

He was pleased to see Ryan chuckling, it always boosted his ego a little when he made his best friend laugh, the sight itself drowning out the surrounding cacophony.

Looking into those beloved green eyes, sparkling with humour, the thought came to Colin that, maybe he was afraid to kiss his friend because he'd enjoy it too much.

And Ryan would know.

Big can of worms...huge.

"Okay!" Drew announced once more, grabbing Colin's wavering attention and throttling it. "If you knew a meteor was about to hit the Earth."

Like the proverbial prince charming, hacking and slashing his handsome way through thorn bushes, dragons and various other dark, dank and generally grotty obstacles in order to get to his princess, one thought came barreling through Colin's mind. Charging forward and throwing the 'what ifs' and 'buts' behind it in its haste.

'Fuck it.'

He grabbed Ryan's arm, just as Chip was leaving after doing whatever the Hell it was he did, and pulled his friend on to the stage.

Ryan looked at him quizzically, a hint of humour still playing around his features as Colin positioned him so they were face to face.

With that, he cradled Ryan's head in his hands and pulled his friend towards him, crushing their mouths together and slipping his tongue instantly through those open, surprised lips.

'He tastes like breath mints' Colin thought, mentally rolling his eyes as his tongue caressed its slowly awakening counterpart.

The kiss lasted only ten seconds or so, giving Ryan's arms time to flounder and briefly settle on Colin's hips before the shorter man pulled away, the approving roar of the audience ringing in his ears.

Ryan's lips were wet with Colin's saliva, which made the older man smile a little with pride. The smile turned into a wide, toothy grin when he looked around at the almost apoplectic crowd and the four, slack-jawed, shocked faces. Particularly enjoying Ryan's and Drew's.

He patted his friend companionably on the shoulder and sauntered back to his side spot.

'Oh to be a fly on the wall for that conversation.'
