Title: Let's Give Them Something to Talk About Rating:G Pairing:Ryan/Colin Summary: Based on the Bonnie Raitt song by the same name Disclaimer: I don't own them....if I did Ry n Col would be living happily together in a quaint mountain home somewhere in Canada! Authors Note: My first fab fic so please read n review! “People talk about us you know.”, Ryan Stiles said, flopping on the couch next to his best friend of over twenty years, Colin Mochrie. “Well, if they didn’t we wouldn’t be very successful, now, would we?”, Colin replied, the kind smile that only Ryan evoked, gracing his face. Ryan smirked and rolled his eyes. “Not about us.”, he said, waving his hand towards Colin, then towards himself. “I mean, us. They think we’re...” “Lovers.”, Colin said finishing Ryan’s sentence. “Yeah. The fans, they analyze everything. I try to ignore it when they say it, but...”, he trailed off. Colin could always read Ryan and right now the emerald eyes of his lanky friends were wary, but there was a hint of something else too. It looked as though it might be curiosity, but that was probably wishful thinking on his part. “Well..” He hoped Ryan didn’t notice, but his voice squeaked. So he stopped, and cleared his throat before he continued. “What exactly do they say?” Ryan looked down as he spoke. “They say I laugh a little harder at your jokes than most...but, you’re one of the funniest people I’ve ever meet. They say that when we talk, we stand closer than normal...but, it’s loud on stage, it’s hard to hear each other...” He sounded as if he were trying to convince himself of something. “They even say when we look at each other...our eyes linger. Some even think there’s more than just a look there.” Colin, of course, knew what Ryan was talking about. Those lingering glances were his chance to watch the amazing features of the goofy comedian. If it weren’t for those glances he wouldn’t be able to work so closely with the great love of his life. Just then, Ryan looked up and Colin was taken aback. Ryan no longer had the thoughtful, pleasant smile smirk on his face; his handsome face was now etched in, what looked like nervousness. It couldn’t be nervousness. This was Ryan; funny, charming, confident, Ryan. As the taller man ran a slender hand through his light hair, Colin knew it was nervousness. “What is it Ry?”, the balding Canadian asked, placing a tentative arm around his friend’s shoulder. “I have to tell you something.” He spoke in a hushed, rough whisper, that made Colin tingle. “I feel so stupid that it took a rumor to make me realize.” Colin moved closer to his partner in crime and asked a question he already knew the answer to. “Realize what?” Ryan looked his friend over; taking in his sweet, concerned smile. That smile said “just an inquiring friend”, but those warm hazel eyes said “I know where this is going and I can’t wait.” Sure, Colin was shy, but he always knew what he was doing, even if he acted as though he didn’t. He had a subtle way of making things go his way, whether in real life or in a scene, and yet he was anything but manipulative. Ryan sighed, and said, “Alright, here it is. I know,” He paused and made a genuine chuckle, that mad Colin want to hug him, then continued. “heck, you know, I love you, but all these rumors and jokes made me realize I might be in love with you.” When I wake up in the morning you’re the first thought to pop into my head, when I go to sleep at night you’re the last thought to pop into my head. Who am I kidding? Even while I am asleep I think about you. Mostly dreaming you would say you felt the same way.” Colin was blown away. He’d never seen Ryan this self-conscious and emotionally exposed. Not even on his wedding day. That thought reminded him that Ryan Stiles had just professed his un-dying love him. The look of momentary shock and awe on Colin’s face was replaced by a big grin, but Ryan couldn’t see that because he was now fixated on the floor. “Are you as insane as you act?” Ryan cringed, mumbled something about being late, and began to rise, still not looking at his friend. Colin pushed Ryan gently back down, and tilted his head so their eyes meet. “You mean you don’t notice how nervous you make me? Or how I give you excuses to say something romantic on stage? Or..how just sitting next to you, not even talking, just sitting, makes me grin like an idiot?” There was a slight pause before Ryan answered. “What are you trying to say?” Colin rolled his eyes. “I guess you could say I’ve fallen for you! I am head over heels in love with you! Ga-ga! I worship at the temple of Ryan Lee Stiles!” He stopped when he saw Ryan smile, and un-characteristically, blush. “I love you, Ryan, more than anything. I always have and always will.”, Colin finished softly. They sat like that for a moment, just gazing into each other’s eyes. Then Ryan’s lovelorn expression changed to his devilish smirk. “As true as that is, they still have no reason to talk.” With that smooth yet cryptic line, the awkwardly appealing Ryan was back. Thank God, Colin thought. He was supposed to be the un-sure one, Ryan was the rock, that’s why he loved him. “What does that mean?”, Colin whispered. Their faces were inches from each others, and when Ryan answered he could feel his breath on his face. Suddenly it was very warm in the small green room. “We’ve never done anything that would make us lovers. Yeah, we want to be, but that doesn’t really count.” Colin smiled. “What makes you think I want to be your lover?” Ryan answered by placing a finger under Colin’s chin and bringing their lips together in a perfect kiss, and boy did Colin kiss back. How could he not? This kiss was amazing; it was twenty years of built up romance, un-requited love, and lingering hugs coming to a head. It was a dream come true, and Ryan was such a good kisser. The fact that this was the complete opposite of his stage kiss, and that they could be easily caught, just added to the moment. They parted and rested their foreheads against each others. A smug grin stretched across Ryan’s face. “That does.” After a pause they broke out in soft laughter. The kind of laughter that only continues for so long because you’re laughing with that person. When the laughter had subsided, Colin spoke. “Why don’t we give them something to talk about?” “Why, Mr. Mochrie what ever do you mean?” Colin loved it when the gears in his head turned and he came up with a line that was purely, usually, smooth, and this, while cheesy, was one of those lines. “They were right when the talked about the attraction between us, but what do you say we give some truth to the lovers part?” Ryan’s face fell a bit as he answered. “Just lovers? I thought we would have something more.” Colin couldn’t help but let out a little laugh. He was so cute. “That’s what I meant, Ry.” The taller man’s face lit up once again. “In that case, yeah, let’s give them something to talk about, Col. Let’s see if Nancy Drew can figure this mystery out.” Colin placed a hand behind Ryan’s head and pulled him into another kiss. Ryan slipped his long arms around Colin’s waist and deepened the kiss. As the pulled away, Brad popped his head in the door. “Hey guys” Pause. “Did I interrupt something?”, he mock sighed. Colin and Ryan looked at each other and burst out laughing, and the laughter only got stronger when they saw Brad’s expression of shock and confusion. Colin looked over at the great love of his life and smiled. Sure, there would be hell to come; wives, friends, co-workers, but for now it was just them. Let everyone talk. He had something that was rare these days, the undying love of someone he loved back; a relationship with constant chemistry and support. So, let them talk. |
