Title: Agreeable Pairing: Colin/Jeff, Colin/Ryan Rating: PG Summary: Colin had a hard time saying no... A/N: Rather short, 400 words -- so a quadruple drabble. I mostly just wanted to see if I could write Jeff and Colin in a remotely plausible way. Colin had a hard time saying no. It went against the rules of his profession, but that wasn't the real problem. Ordinarily, he had no difficulty separating his stage persona from his day-to-day life. Saying no, however, followed him wherever he went. The real problem was that he disliked people disliking him. Not saying no on stage was his safety net because he'd never be alone if he did it. Off stage, Colin found out, it could be dangerous. When he got the Let's Make a Date prompt to kiss Wayne and Ryan, he did so without reservation. When Drew kissed him, it surprised him, but he went with it. When Jeff leaned in with a cheeky grin and kissed him too, it only seemed like a natural progression. Later that night, when Jeff laid his hands on Colin's shoulders and asked him, with startling seriousness if he could kiss him again, Colin didn't exactly say yes, but he didn't say no, either. Jeff, ever bold, took the silence as a yes and Colin didn't do anything to dissuade him. Their affair was short. Jeff wasn't one of the regular players and Colin generally fled southern California for Toronto whenever the situation presented itself. There was guilt, too, and more than a little disbelief. Colin's tastes tended not to follow traditional paths, but he wasn't blind, and the handful of times he woke up with Jeff curled next to him never failed to raise the question in his mind as to why such a young, talented, good looking guy was at all interested in him. Jeff oozed confidence, but he managed to look at Colin like a floppy-haired puppy, eager to please. Just as eager to be liked back, Colin continued not to say no. Ryan was angry when he found out, an imposing presence in the green room doorway. His silence spoke for him, as Colin's had for him weeks earlier with Jeff. He felt guilty and sorry, but Colin tried not to let Ryan's anger get too deep under his skin. He'd just wait for Ryan to work through his anger, and then not say no to him when the opportunity presented itself. He had reason to hope Ryan would eventually take him back; he'd always taken advantage of Colin's never-say-no attitude himself. For the time being, however, Colin's safety in numbers approach to life left him utterly alone. -- end -- |
